1920s–1930s: NEP, Collectivization, and Siblag

YurgaNEPCollectivizationSeries-Yurga

The 1920s — Yurga learns to live anew.

Subbotniks, wagon repairs, help for starving Volga region, evening schools, libraries. Komsomol — the engine of new life.

NEP revives trade. Then comes collectivization: collective farms multiply, nearby are Siblag territories, camps, repressions of 1937.

Yurga — part of a large country, so its history during this period is just as sharp and difficult.

Next — about the decision to build a machine-building plant.
