Old Yurga: First Houses and Settlers

The first houses of Yurga were offshoots of the village of Polomoshnoye.

Approximately 1875–1876 (officially — 1886). People were drawn here by the fertile banks of the Yurga River.

The Berezovsky brothers — Alexander and Grigory — built the first houses. According to the 1901 census, there were about 40 residents. Few, but this was already the beginning of a real settlement.

Yurga grew quietly, like many Siberian settlements… until an event occurred nearby that would change its fate forever.
